The term is derived from several Sanskrit roots; sam meaning "together" or "completely," a meaning "toward" and dhe, meaning "put."
Samadhi is the eighth limb of yoga and, for many, the goal of a dedicated yoga practice. Here is my breakdown of the different stages of Samadhi, how to achieve it, and what happens when you do.

The Yoga Sutra, the central text of yoga philosophy and practice, calls these three steps samyama. By stringing dharana, dhyana, and samadhi together, the technical term samyama tells us that there is a natural process of starting our practice and reaching the goal of the practice.
