San Fernando Cathedral was founded in 1731 and is the oldest, continuously functioning religious community in the State of Texas. The Cathedral building has the added distinction of being the oldest standing church building in Texas, and for all of its more than 290 years, has been serving the people of the archdiocese and San Antonio.
Its dome serves as the city of San Antonio's cultural and geographical center. The cathedral is also known as the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria y Guadalupe and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is notable as one of the oldest cathedrals in the United States.

San Fernando Cathedral. The City of San Antonio is allowing parishioners to park in the City Tower Garage at 100 North Main free of charge on Sundays. This was the location of the former Frost Bank Parking Garage. The city will allow our parishioners to park FREE from 7AM until 7PM every Sunday.
