Sandy Row ( Irish: Rae na Gainmhe [1]) is a large inner city estate in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. It lends its name to the surrounding residential community, which is predominantly Protestant working-class. The Sandy Row area had a population of 2,153 in 2001; [2] [3] in 2018, the population was estimated to be around 4,000. [4] .

Even the Rev. W. M. O Hanlon stated of his pastoral visit to Sandy Row in 1852:

May 14, 2019 · Sandy Row is one of the oldest residential streets in Belfast. It has long been an important route into the town, connecting it with the Malone Ridge — the main route from the south. As workers moved in from rural areas, seeking work in Belfast's shipyards, mills and engineering works, they settled here.
