Cabrera is best known for his roles as the character Isaac Mendez in the NBC superhero drama Heroes, Lancelot in the BBC drama series Merlin, and Aramis in the BBC series The Musketeers. He was also the lead in the CBS drama Salvation as Darius Tanz, and played Captain Cristóbal "Cris" Rios in the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Picard .
In 2014, Cabrera starred as Aramis in the BBC One hit show "The Musketeers" (2014-2016), a fresh and exciting look at the much-loved novel by Alexandre Dumas. He went on to the hit HBO show "Big Little Lies" (2017) directed by Jean Marc Vallee, starring opposite Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.
