Her close friendship with Queen Anne bolstered her husband’s career and served to aid the Whig cause.
Sarah Jennings Churchill, duchess of Marlborough, made a decisive impact on English politics during the reign of Queen Anne. From Anne's accession in 1702 until an irreparable quarrel separated them in 1711, Sarah was the power behind the English throne.
