Jun 12, 2019 · • Scotts Mills Falls is a first site where the best grist mill in Oregon was established. • A wide waterfall cascades through the rocky cliff into the large plunge pool. Scotts Mills County Park on the Butte Creek is known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Both of the Scotts were born in Banff’s Mills, Roxburyshire, Scotland and left a heritage in Oregon by giving the name Scotts Mills to the little village on Butte Creek. According to Lewis A. McArthur, author of Oregon Geographic Names , the settlement was named in 1866.
But now, after two visits, we can testify that Scotts Mills, by either road, is well worth this journey into Marion County history.
