While official news of his passing is hard to come by (he shares a name with a Russian politician), independent website Rely on Horror has done a rough translation of a STALKER wiki that reveals he passed away on November 25, 2020.

  2. GSC worked on it in 2001 and early 2002. Outside of STALKER games as we know them today, Sergei Ivanov has worked on a 1991 Stalker game, one more closely based on the film by Andrei Tarkovsky. Unfortunately, it seems that game has been lost.

  5. Dec 8, 2020 · Apparently, it was COVID-related complications. And just to clarify, Ivanov wrote the games whereas Andrei Tarkovsky directed the 1979 movie of the same name based on the Strugatsky brothers’ novel “Roadside Picnic”, where the games took heavy inspiration from. Rest in peace.
