We currently offer community classes for ages 16 and older, as well as a few introduction to ASL classes for younger kids throughout the year. The format (in-person, hybrid or virtual) will depend on demand and instructor availability.

ASL Connect is intended to be a central resource for learning American Sign Language (ASL) and about Deaf Studies online, with all content created by Deaf ASL-fluent scholars. We offer ways to learn some basic ASL online to get you started, and then we offer highly engaging and interactive ASL and Deaf Studies courses online.
Sign language classes can be found at community colleges, universities, libraries, churches, organizations/clubs of the deaf, and lots of other places. You can also expand your knowledge of ASL by practicing your signs with people who are deaf or hard of hearing and also know ASL.
Level 1 is a 6 week session focusing on the introduction to American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. You will develop a strong basic ASLary (OUR word for vocabulary), syntax, and grammar. You will learn numbers 1-100, visual discrimination, practice fingerspelling and begin to understand the use of space and gestures.
American Sign Language classes are provided to help hearing people converse with neighbors and family members and to give those who become deaf later in life another mode to communicate. Taught by qualified Deaf instructors with many years of teaching experience, our ASL classes offer an immersive educational experience.
