Tech Evangelist is the fourth episode of Season 5, and the forty second episode overall. It premiered on April 15, 2018.

Attempting to woo a gaming company to PiperNet, Richard inadvertently angers a prized ally; Dinesh deals with a betrayal; Gavin Belson leaves his underlings with a cryptic message; Jared gets inside information from Big Head.

Richard has assembled eight software CEOs who have agreed to put their new platforms on the new Internet that Pied Piper is building. These "Octopipers" (as Richard calls them) include Dee Dee (A. D. Miles), a gay Christian building a new gay dating site. Dee Dee tells Richard about his religion in confidence.

Laurie Bream (Suzanne Cryer) has lined up a meeting for Richard with the CEO of Cakehole, makers of a very popular and very violent video game, which would give Pied Piper's new Internet a major credibility boost. But at the meeting Richard gets nervous and outs Dee Dee as a Christian to everyone at the meeting, freaking them out. To be absolutely clear, they have no problem whatsoever with Dee Dee being gay.

Also, Gilfoyle has discovered Jeff Washburn (Armen Weitzman) has sent several encrypted messages to Hooli, meaning that Washburn is the mole. Richard goes to Washburn's apartment with Gilfoyle and Jared to confront the mole. Gilfoyle deliberately damages Washburn's laptop, and as an added bonus, also Dinesh's laptop.

Richard doesn't want to tip Hooli off. So Washburn will continue to work at Pied Piper like nothing has happened, he must do this because he doesn't want to face the consequences of violating his non-disclosure agreement with Pied Piper. And on top of that, he must go with Dinesh to a Battle Bots event.

When Jian-Yang carelessly discards a very expensive car just because Russ Hanneman urinated on it (LOOK UP WHAT EPISODE THAT WAS), Richard realizes that Nelson Bighetti (Josh Brener) in fact did not dissolve his partnership with the supposedly deceased Erlich Bachman.

Bighetti's father insisted on the dissolution, and the son would have complied, except for a stupid paperwork mix-up. This means that Nelson Bighetti's the rightful heir of the Bachman estate, not Jian-Yang. Very soon, Jian-Yang vacates Erlich's house, leaving very little besides a bucket with the cremated remains of a pig that stands in for Erlich.

  5. Nov 14, 2018 · November 14, 2018 - 3:45 pm. What is an evangelist? The term brings to mind something spiritual, even religious, kind of like a Silicon Valley guru, a la Silicon Valley (the show): But...
