Tom Holkenborg, also known as Junkie XL, is one of the most in-demand Hollywood composers around today.
Tom Holkenborg’s Percussion uses an idiosyncratic velocity mapping system devised by its creator. The upper part of the picture shows a conventional velocity‑split mapping with all dynamic layers stacked on one note. Below is Tom’s system, which maps the velocity layers out across the keyboard.
