Sophia of Minsk or Sophia of Polotsk (died 5 May 1198) was a Danish queen consort by marriage to King Valdemar I of Denmark, and a landgravine of Thuringia by marriage to Louis III, Landgrave of Thuringia.

Apr 1, 2024 · Princess Sophia died at the age of 26 on March 19 (29), 1612 during childbirth. In memory of the pious life of the princess and her good works, she was buried in the Slutsk Holy Trinity Monastery. The Lord blessed the righteous Sophia with incorruptible relics and miracles.

Sofia var datter af den polske Rikissa (dronning af Sverige og tidligere kortvarigt dronning af Danmark) og en russisk fyrste. Hun var gennem sit ægteskab med Valdemar den Store dronning af Danmark. De blev gift i 1157, men var allerede blevet trolovet 1154. Hun ligger begravet i Sankt Bendts Kirke i Ringsted.
Sophia was the half-sister of Canute V of Denmark. After her mother's marriage to the Swedish king, she followed her to Sweden and was raised at the Swedish court. She was betrothed to Valdemar in 1154 as a form of alliance between Denmark and Sweden.

Sophia of Minsk or Sophia of Polotsk (ca. 1140 – d.1198), was a Danish mediaeval queen consort as the spouse of King Valdemar I of Denmark, and later a landgravine of Thuringia. Sophia was the daughter of Richeza of Poland, Dowager Queen of Sweden, from her marriage to a man called "Valador" King in Poloni Land.
Nov 3, 2021 · Sophia was the daughter of Prince Volodar of Minsk and the king’s daughter Richiza. In her previous marriage with the Danish king Magnus, Richiza had a son, Knud, of whom Sophia was a half-sister. Sophia’s engagement to Valdemar was meant to seal an alliance between Knud and Valdemar.
