In 1992, South Miami became a 'Middle School' and in 2002 the school received a new 'building' to assist with the student enrollment. Today, South Miami Middle School is proud to serve a diverse community offering eight specialized visual and performing arts magnet programs.
The Lively Magnet Program is an advanced academic program with limited enrollment. Our program, consisting of over five hundred magnet students from all around the Austin area, is part of almost a 136 year old tradition .
