Southwest Missouri State University is a multi-campus system operating under a single Board of Governors. SMSU-Springfield is a selective admissions, graduate level teaching and research institution. SMSU-West Plains is an open admissions campus serving seven counties in south central Missouri.
1974 Southwest Missouri State University National Championship Softball Team. Led by Coach Kay Hunter, the Southwest Missouri State softball team steamrolled through the nation during the fall of 1974. The team went 19-4, and posted a 4-0 record in the Missouri AIAW Championship.
