Lindley Armstrong Jones (December 14, 1911 – May 1, 1965), known as Spike Jones, was an American musician and bandleader specializing in spoof arrangements of popular songs and classical music. Ballads receiving the Jones treatment were punctuated with gunshots, whistles, cowbells and outlandish and comedic vocals.

Spike Jones kept up a frenetic pace in the late 1930s as a freelance studio musician for motion pictures, records, and radio shows. The busy young drummer commuted to Hollywood studios in a station wagon that was a veritable junkyard on wheels. But he had little opportunity to employ cowbells, sirens, and automobile horns in his work at the time.

The group was called "Spike Jones and His City Slickers." The group recorded "Der Fuehrer's Face" during World War II and went on to do take-offs on established songs such as "Cocktails for Two." They also did the holiday song, "All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth."
