St. jadwiga of Poland, also known as St. Hedwig, was a Polish princess and later the queen of Poland. She was born on October 16, 1373, the oldest daughter of Louis the Great, King of Hungary and Poland, and Elizabeth of Bosnia. Jadwiga was well-educated and fluent in several languages, including Latin, German, and Polish.

Mar 27, 2020 · Conservators were working on the tomb of St. Jadwiga in Trzebnica, Lower Silesia, in southern Poland when they made the chance discovery. While the tomb of the saint is well-known, her remains had been lost long ago. They were working on her stone tomb, which dates to the 17 th century, after a small fissure appeared on the sarcophagus.
