Betty attended St. Mary’s Girls School in Raleigh and was married to the late Ralston F. Welch from High Point for 48 years. They retired to Oriental, NC in 1975. Mrs. Welch was a member of the NC Music Association District Area Music Festival and judged annually at ECU in Greenville.
He was a devoted parishioner at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea (Longboat Key, Fl.) and Immaculate Conception (Amenia, N.Y.) Every December for many years, excluding the current year due to COVID-19 restrictions, he helped arrange shepherds, donkeys, a camel and llamas for a live nativity at the church in Amenia to the delight of many.
