St. Florian's Gate or Florian Gate (Polish: Brama Floriańska) in Kraków, Poland, is one of the best-known Polish Gothic towers, and a focal point of Kraków's Old Town. It was built about the 14th century as a rectangular Gothic tower of "wild stone", [2] part of the city fortifications against Tatar attack.

Florian Gate. Kraków, Poland, Europe. Kraków. This attractive stone gateway is the only one of the city’s original eight gates that was not dismantled during the 19th-century modernisation. It was built around 1300, although the top is a later addition. The adjoining walls, together with two towers, have also been left standing.
Nov 23, 2016 · St. Florian’s Gate is located at the end of Florianska Street in the Krakow Old Town. From one side, Florianska Street reaches St. Mary’s Basilica on the Krakow Main Square. From the other side, through St. Florian’s Gate, it leads to the Church of St. Florian.
Its name comes from St Florian’s Church in Kleparz, yet it was also referred to in Latin as Porta Gloriae, i.e. the Gate of Glory, as this was the start of the main Royal Route (Latin: Via Regia) leading to Wawel. It was mentioned in city documents as early as 1307, yet its oldest stone section most probably dates back to the 13th/14th centuries.
