Steven Grant Rogers was born on a Thursday, July 4, 1918, to Joseph and Sarah Rogers. His father was KIA and his mother died of tuberculoses soon after. He was then placed in an orphanage where he was constantly picked on by bullies. It was there that he met his life-long best friend James "Bucky" Buchanan Barnes.

During an exhibition of future technologies, Rogers attempted to enlist (not for the first time) in the military. He was rejected however, due to his frail, sickly state and appearance. Overhearing Rogers' conversation with his friend Bucky about why he wanted to enlist, Dr. Abraham Erskine allowed Steve Rogers to enlist into the military, and sent him to take part in Project: Rebrith.

Project: Rebirth was a military project to choose, and transform, the best person to become a literal super-soldier, under Erskine, General Chester Phillips, and Agent Peggy Carter. Erskine was convinced that Steve Rogers was the right person to undergo the treatment to become a super-soldier but Phillips disagreed. After throwing a dummy grenade and seeing Rogers jump over it and use his body as a shield to prevent the grenade from hurting anyone, Phillips was impressed and agreed to let Rogers undergo the procedure, saying however, that Rogers was still skinny.

Rogers then underwent the procedure and was transformed from frail Steve Rogers into the powerful and heroic Captain America. His amazing exploits in WWII made him a living legend. On one of these missions, his best friend, Bucky, was seemingly killed (however in the comics he returns as the Winter Soldier). Steve then went onto save New York City and turn the tide of the war by defeating HYDRA, a top-secret research division for the Nazis, and its leader, Johann Schmidt, the Red Skull, but crashed into the Arctic during his final mission.
