Situated about a two-hour drive southwest of Vienna and less than an hour from Graz, South Styria is a gorgeous region with green rolling hills, mile after mile of vineyards, picturesque villages, wine taverns and lovely, family-owned hotels and inns.
Surrounded by the gentle hills of southern and eastern Styria, you can find three “DAC” (Districtus Austriae Controllatus) wine-growing regions: the Styrian Spa Country, Southern Styria and Western Styria.
The approximately 25 kilometer (16 mi) long road between Ehrenhausen and Leutschach leads through the largest wine-growing region in Styria. The fact that the wine road also runs along the state border of Slovenia for a few kilometers makes it even more unique.
