Despite a shaky premise, an engaging cast and a sinuous storyline make Sugar Mountain a moderately diverting adventure.
The premise of the movie, Sugar Mountain, sounds intriguing, but the execution of the story turns out to be lackluster/mediocre at best. It lacks either good direction, writing, acting or whatever it is that makes a movie thrilling and dramatic.
Parents need to know that Sugar Mountain is a mature thriller about a harebrained moneymaking scheme. It has heavy violence -- mostly punching, pummeling, and beating, though guns and shooting are also involved involved. Plus, there are painful falls, a shovel to the head, and a knife to the throat.
