Sviatoslav III of Kiev. Sviatoslav III Vsevolodovich [a] (died 1194) was Prince of Turov (1142 and 1154), Volhynia (1141–1146), Pinsk (1154), Novgorod-Seversk (1157–1164), Chernigov (1164–1177), Grand Prince of Kiev (1174; 1177–1180; 1182–1194). He was the son of Vsevolod II Olgovich. [1]

After Ukraine was annexed by Soviet Union the theater was nationalized and named the K. Liebknecht State Opera House. In 1926 it was renamed the Kyiv State Academic Ukrainian Opera, and in 1934, when Kyiv was returned the capital status, the Academic Opera and Ballet Theater of the USSR.

We were directed from one attendant to another before one finally accepted our coats. We hired some binoculars for a small fee before making our way to our seats.
