  2. Jack Ketchum's book "The Girl Next Door" was based on this. I read it in highschool and definitely shouldn't have at that age. Took a break from reading any horror for awhile after that. Heard a true crime podcast years later about Sylvia Likens and realized I knew that story, and that was the first time it clicked that it was real.
