Tangier, port and principal city of northern Morocco. It is located on a bay of the Strait of Gibraltar 17 miles (27 km) from the southern tip of Spain. It has been the summer site of the Moroccan royal residence since 1962 and was a destination for artists and writers in the 1950s and ’60s.
