Tanning dependence or tanorexia (a portmanteau of tanning and anorexia) is a syndrome where an individual appears to have a physical or psychological dependence on sunbathing or the use of ultraviolet (UV) tanning beds to darken the complexion of the skin.

May 3, 2012 · Patricia Krentcil, the New Jersey mom who is accused of letting her 5-year-old daughter go in a tanning booth, is pleading not guilty to the charges, according to news reports. "My client is 150 percent innocent," Krentcil's attorney, John D. Caruso, told CBS News. "That child was never in that tanning booth."
