Tarsem is a Na'vi and the current Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya clan whom Jake Sully surrenders leadership of the clan to after he and his family leave for their own safety. Tarsem symbolically "kills" Jake by scratching him with a knife in order to transfer leadership.
Sci-fi. The Omatikaya Clan (ENG: Blue Flute clan) are a Na'vi clan that lives in the forest of Pandora. They are currently led by Tarsem and Mo'at. The clan's members share a deep connection with the forest and especially Eywa herself due to them being responsible for protecting the Tree of Souls.
The joke is that Tarsem is but a pale imitation of the legendary leader that is toruk makto, not that I think that he becomes toruk makto when Jake relinquishes his leadership over the tribe 🤦♂️
Tarsem cuts Jake across the chest and Jake tells us this symbolically represents his death so a new leader can take the title. When Neytiri cut Spider I see it as her killing Quaritch's son in exchange for him killing Neteyam.
Dec 18, 2022 · In fact, during the final war in that movie, it was Tsu’tey who led the assault and later transferred his title of Olo’eyktan to Jake. In “The Way of Water,” Sully starts as the chief of the tribe. But as soon as he realizes that his family is in danger, he transfers the title to Tarsem, someone who is way more mature than him.
