Music TEKS. Teachers of grades K–12 in Texas public schools are required by law to provide instruction that covers 100% of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) applicable to each grade/level. Below are links to each of the grade/level TEKS for music.
Elementary school students experience music by chanting, singing, playing, moving, reading, writing, improvising, and creating. Leaving out even one element shortchanges students from learning the multi-faceted discipline of music.
