Moderate and broad. When this first appeared, it represented a wonderful move forward in Bible translation. It was designed for people for whom English is a second language. The early editions were wonderfully illustrated. It remains quite a readable translation, though I recommend the CEV in most of the uses for which I used to recommend the TEV.
