  1. It's intentionally ambiguous. You can interpret it either way, but the fact that nobody else seems to see or acknowledge her presence is really odd and points to her being dead. I kinda liked the movie, good haunted house horror movies are a dying breed.

  2. Florence walks out after that, and the last scene shows Florence saying "Hello" before she walks out of the screen-view. Another scene before that is where she says "Hello again" to Victor. If she was dead, Victor wouldn't be able to see her.

  3. The movie’s ending takes a supernatural turn as Florence wakes up in a parallel dream-like realm. She is greeted by a young boy who reveals himself to be Tom, a child from the boarding school who had died from the gas leak. Florence realizes that she, too, had perished in the confrontation with Maud and is now stuck in a purgatory-like existence.

  4. Jan 19, 2020 · She walks on the far side of the group; on the left side of a boy as she says "Hello." and the boy turns toward her - presumably sees her. Remember, none of the school boys saw Tom's ghost (I think) - only the lonely asthmatic kid who died.

  5. It's not the most original story, but the execution is fantastic and I just love the gloomy atmosphere. Rebecca Hall is great in this one, as usual for her! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit lighter fare horror. Reply.

  6. But there's this black spot in her memory about what happened to her parents, and while you know throughout the movie that she's going to encounter a real fucking ghost, you're kinda left to wonder what it has to do with her dead parents.
