Dec 31, 2014 · By the time Birth of a Nation was made, the history of the south had been scrubbed and sanitized by the "Lost Cause" dogma largely through the efforts of the Daughters of the Confederacy. The film corresponded to the historical record, but by 1915 the historic record had been altered. But, you know, great cinematography.
