Any suggestions on where I could purchase old merch from the Blue Danube? Mainly interested in T-Shirts but would definitely consider other types of memorabilia. My Grandparents went to the Dube on their first date, I forget what year it was but my Gma was born in 1929 so it was in the early days of the restaurant.
The Blue Danube, Op. 314, waltz by Austrian composer Johann Strauss the Younger, created in 1867.The work epitomizes the symphonic richness and variety of Strauss’s dance music, which earned him acclaim as the “waltz king,” and it has become the best-known of his many dance pieces.
Strauss recalled a poem by Karl Isidor Beck (1817-79). Each stanza ends with the line: ‘By the Danube, beautiful blue Danube’. It gave him the inspiration and the title for his new work – although the Danube could never be described as blue and, at the time the waltz was written, it did not flow through Vienna.
