Punguari is the tritagonist of Nickelodeon's 50th full-length animated film, The Casagrandes Movie.

She is a 12,800 year-old demigod and a daughter of Sisiki and Chipiri who believes she is ready to become a full-fledged god. However, she is denied from being given such a title due to her lack of responsibility, being warned that there will be disastrous repercussions.

When she defied her parents' direct order, Punguari transformed into a god with the Mask of Many Faces, and her actions inadvertently caused the earth below her to start cracking, releasing Ucumu from his imprisonment, until Sisiki sacrificed her own daughter to be petrified as a mountain to protect her.

She was voiced by Paulina Chávez.

Although a preteen demigod, Punguari has the mannerisms of a 12-year-old kid. She is shown to be free-spirited, rebellious, and irresponsible. She is willing to deceive people to get a chance to become a true god, as shown how she stole from her father and lied to Ronnie Anne to get her to help her.

She is also mischievous in her personality as she loves to cause trouble like drawing a bunny on the moon during her duty.

In her demigod form, Punguari has longer hair and blue face paint around her eyes and on her chin. She wears a crown on her head, crescent-shaped earrings, gold wristbands, a short lilac top with round shoulders and indigo skirts, and a long dress.

In her human form as Shara, she bears the appearance of an average-sized, dark-skinned teenage girl. She has black hair, thick eyebrows, thick mascara, and two eyelashes on each eye. She is also shown with a chipped tooth. For attire, she wears a pink hairband with indigo butterflies, gold earrings, a white tube top with a pink collar, indigo shorts with white stripes, a beaded bracelet on her wrist, and brown Franco Ruth sandals.

    Past

800 years ago, Punguari was born in Mexico to the two gods named Chipiri and Sisiki. During the time in her life, Punguari was originally assigned to take in charge on the moon to raise it every night when came of the age 12,000 (later 12,800 in the present). Unlike her parents who are benevolent and selfless, Punguari grew to become egotistical, mischievous, and secretly malevolent as she will be ready to be a full god when she's mature enough, if it means causing potential disasters. Even as she was desired for, Punguari was very impatient and jealous because the humans honor her parents in every festival more than herself, and she kept annoying her parents that she wants to be a full-fledged god immediately. However, she was denied from being given such a title due to her mischievous nature and lack of responsibility, and there will be disastrous repercussions, foreshadowing the tragic mistake of her whole desire to being a full god. One day, during the New Fire ceremony for the former, Punguari congratulated her father for the festival. Unbeknownst to her parents, Punguari had stolen her father's staff from behind his back while hugging him, and proceeded to use it to access a realm holding an artifact called the Mask of Many Faces, which has the power to transform demigods into gods. Upon putting on the mask on, Punguari used voodoo magic to command the mask that makes her a full-fledged god. However, this results in mass hysteria, as her actions inadvertently caused the earth below her to start cracking, putting the lives of the Mexican people in jeopardy. As Chipiri went to protect the people, Sisiki pleaded with Punguari to stop, but Punguari refused to listen as she's laughing wickedly. To make matters worse, Ucumu, the God of the Underworld, emerged from the depths to the surface and prepared to attack the gods. To protect her daughter from Ucumu, Sisiki had no choice, but to petrify Punguari into a mountain, mourning the loss of her fallen daughter after trying to change Punguari's heart until it was too late. With Punguari safely imprisoned, Chipiri and Sisiki fought together to seal Ucumu back into the underworld, but at the cost of their godly lives in becoming gems under Ucumu's clutches. After the chaos, Mexico was saved from Ucumu's brief tyranny, and the mountain was officially named after the young, doomed demigoddess.

    The Casagrandes Movie

800 years later, the Casagrande family decided to spend Ronnie Anne's 12th birthday by taking a trip to Mexico. During their stay, Ronnie Anne, after defying her mother, Maria, decided to skateboard down the mountain Punguari transformed into. However, a necklace she bought earlier causes Punguari to wake up from her petrified state (as it contained a gem that was part of the Mask of Many Faces). Now as the ghost without her physical form, Punguari disguises herself as a 12-year-old girl named Shara, and manages to convince Ronnie Anne to help her find the Mask of Many Faces. After finding the mask in a concealed artifact room at a museum, Punguari reveals her true form, and proceeds to trap, Ronnie Anne, heartbroken over the fact that her new best friend was a liar that just used her, in the artifact room. With the Mask of Many Faces, Punguari transforms herself into a god, and uses her new powers to create her own palace so she can party, causing the ocean to recede and the Earth to start cracking. Meanwhile, after being freed by Maria, her grandmother Rosa, and great-grandmother Lupe, Ronnie Anne discovers a scroll that tells the story of Punguari, where she discovers that due to Punguari's reckless actions, she inadvertently unleashes Ucumu into the world, prompting her to state that they have to warn her. Arriving to Punguari's palace, Ronnie Anne reveals to Punguari that her story is all wrong: at first, she thought her petrification by Sisiki was out of punishment, but in reality, it was to protect her, as her actions caused Ucumu to rise and start attacking everyone. Upon learning the truth, Punguari becomes filled with guilt, as her parents sacrificed themselves for her. At that moment, Ucumu rises from the cracks in the ground, ready to cause mayhem once more. Banding together, Ronnie Anne, Punguari, and the Casagrandes work on trying to defeat Ucumu. Remembering that Ucumu was defeating with a giant flaming chancla, Maria, Rosa, and Lupe go and get the stone chancla at the top of the town, Ronnie Anne and Punguari work to keep Ucumu distracted, while the other try to find the sacred flame to light the chancla. During their fight with Ucumu, Punguari discovers that the two gemstones on Ucumu's headpiece contain her parents. However, this revelation causes Punguari to become distracted, allowing Ucumu to strike her and Ronnie Anne. As Ucumu is about to suck up Punguari so he can trap her alongside her parents, the Casagrandes manage to launch the giant chancla at Ucumu's face, causing the skin on his body to burn off, revealing his skeletal structure in a weakened state. Ronnie Anne uses Punguari's magic staff to disintegrate Ucumu, reducing his body to ashes that fall into the very cracks he emerged from. Afterwards, Punguari proceeds to use her magic to destroy her temple, to which she uses the pieces to seal the cracks permanently, ensuring that Ucumu will never rise again. Following the final battle, Chipiri and Sisiki are finally freed in their physical forms, and Punguari, with much genuine remorse, embraces her parents, apologizing them for her reckless actions with the mask and nearly getting innocent people in danger. With Mexico safe from Ucumu once again, Punguari has now become a better person when protecting the land alongside her parents and admires herself as a true friend to Ronnie Anne.
