The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a Netflix -produced series directed by Louis Leterrier. It is a prequel to the 1982 fantasy film that was directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, The Dark Crystal. Just like the original film, it features animatronic puppets created and performed by Henson's Creature Shop and is based on designs by Brian Froud.
To be fair, the original was made in the 80’s, which is where a lot of modern cliche and tropes came from. I haven’t seen the TV show yet, but the movie is still an amazing piece of world building, and I think that has merit on it’s own.

There are 3 AoR comics- one about Ordon and Fara, one about Hup, and one about Mayrin. They're alright, but not as good as the show (a high bar, to be sure). The Mayrin one is a bit controversial because certain parts of it clash a lot with show canon- it still has some interesting ideas though.

Interesting detail in the series about how the Skeksis and Mystics came apart from the Ur Skeks. There's a conversation between the Emperor and the General, where they discuss what life was like before they were rent asunder; and the torment and chaos of emotions they would be exposed to, if they were to become whole again: guilt and sorrow.
