The structure itself is lovely, built in 1900 from local granite. The staff was friendly & informative & passionate about their exhibits which really helped add to our experience. We had 2 young kids with us & the museum was enjoyable for all of us. I highly recommend visiting. It is surrounded by a lovely park as well as World War monuments.

Visitors can find out more about Sir Walter Scott by calling into another of our city museums. The Writers' Museum, just 7 minutes’ walk from the monument, is free to enter and is open from 10am-5pm daily. The museum includes a display on Scott, with original artefacts that belonged to the great writer.

The Stanton Englehart Exhibit at Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center & Museum is awing visitors through December 2024.
