Thefounder is a dystopian business simulation browser game site designed and developed by Francis Tseng. The goal of Thefounder.biz is to make and become the best company around, while making the best products, buying other companies, etc and three important things: technology, power and profit.
Thefounder.biz's deep cynicism is based/inspired on Francis Tseng's personal experience working in Silicon Valley and at startups in general informed the design of the game. Francis believes that companies wield great influence over people's lives, but they don't take responsibility for the consequences or the unintended impact they might have.
“Technology is very powerful, but the effects it has in the world are very much dependent on the context it’s developed in and is deployed in,” Francis Tseng says.
