Summaries. In a seemingly perfect community without war, pain, suffering, differences or choices, a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man, the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world. A youth named Jonas lives in an equalized, colorless, but pleasant society with no knowledge of love or pain.
