Outlaw King is a 2018 historical action drama film about 14th-century Scottish king Robert the Bruce during the Scottish Wars of Independence. The film largely takes place during the 3-year period from 1304, when Bruce decides to rebel against the rule of Edward I over Scotland, up to the 1307 Battle of Loudoun Hill.
After being crowned King of Scotland, legendary warrior Robert the Bruce is forced into exile by the English and leads a band of outlaws to help him reclaim the throne.

As I watched David Mackenzie ’s “Outlaw King,” the opening night film of the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival now being shunted off to Netflix after a heavy edit, I often marveled at the scope of the production. So many overhead drone shots.
