Overall, the Pee Wee Herman Show on Broadway was a disappointment. It was 30 years since the original PWH Show which really put him on the comedy map, but with the exception of the Captain Karl character (played by the late Phil Hartman in the original special) being eliminated, this show was pretty much a replay of the original 1981 show.
