Originally called the Casa Curial (Ecclesiastical House), the Presbytere on Jackson Square in New Orleans has the distinction of being one of the finest example of Spanish colonial public building architecture remaining in the United States, along with the matching Cabildo.
It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970, and is now a property of the Louisiana State Museum. Description [ edit ] The Presbytère is located on the northeast side of Jackson Square, between the cathedral and St. Ann Street.
