The Promise is a 1988 hit song by the British new wave trio When In Rome, inspired by the idiom "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". The song was used in the 2004 movie Napoleon Dynamite and the 2009 TV series Sex Education. It has also been covered by many other artists.
