The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM; French: Conservatoire royal de musique), branded as The Royal Conservatory, is a non-profit music education institution and performance venue headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1886 by Edward Fisher as The Toronto Conservatory of Music.

1886. The Toronto Conservatory of Music is founded and the development of a unique graded curriculum for the study of music begins. Edward Fisher serves as the first Principal and Music Director.
Feb 7, 2006 · The Royal Conservatory of Music (until 1947, known as Toronto Conservatory of Music) is the largest and oldest self-supporting institution of its kind in Canada, offering opportunities for learning and personal development through music in all Canadian provinces and territories, as well as a number of international settings.
Dec 9, 2012 · Founding Years. In 1887 instruction was offered in practical and theoretical music as well as elocution, foreign languages, public school music, acoustics, piano tuning, and vocal anatomy and hygiene. Teachers were available for saxophone (1888) and for guitar and zither (1893).
