The Sultan and the Saint. Available on Prime Video, iTunes. Eight hundred years ago, Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt met on the bloody battlefields of the Crusades. The Crusades resulted in four generations of escalating conflict that was directed at Muslims, Jews, Orthodox Christians in the East, and eventually other Western Europeans.
This was suggested viewing for those of us who are Franciscans (I'm a novice for the Third Order). During the Crusades, Saint Francis travelled to the center of Muslim country to try and talk the Sultan into ending the wars. It transcends time in that we can use this same idea as a bridge to finding common ground between Christians and Muslims.
