  3. THE WICKER TREE is one of the most awful sequels in existence, a completely terrible movie made all the worse by the fact that THE WICKER MAN is one of the best British horror films in existence. I truly have no idea what Robin Hardy was thinking when he wrote and directed this; it looks like the man's talent left him many, many years ago.

  6. The Wicker Tree is a 2011 British horror film written and directed by Robin Hardy. It contains many direct parallels and allusions to the 1973 film The Wicker Man, which was also directed by Hardy, [1] and is intended as a companion piece which explores the same themes.

  8. This is an utterly safe, boring, sterile movie that pretends to be prodding at some potentially interesting, racy concepts but has no idea what to do with them. Its characterizations are flat and vague. The suspense-building strategies here are flaccid and hardly ever lead to a satisfying payoff.

  11. There are several factoids I learned after watching The Wicker Tree, the 39 years in the making sequel to cult favorite “The Wicker Man.”For one, nuclear power plants make all men who drink or bathe in its cooling source sterile (although on the flip side it also grants them the gift of being able to perform sexually upwards of seven times in short time frame).
