There's Something About Mary felt like an important moment for comedy movies in the 90s. At least, that's how I remember it. I was 15 at the time, so perhaps it just felt like a hallmark for my age, but looking back through reviews and articles on the film, it brought the sex comedy (if you consider it one) back to the big screen in a way not really celebrated since the 80s.
Synopsis. In 1985, 16-year-old high school student Theodore "Ted" Stroehmann (Ben Stiller) is about to go on a prom date with his dream girl Mary Jensen (Cameron Diaz). Mary was supposed to go with her boyfriend Woogie. ted stands up when a bully manhandles Mary's dumb brother Warren, and Mary befriends him.
