A lot of it is about the timing, Dalton came in the late 80s when the serious tone was not as popular in action movies. Craig came when ‘dark gritty’ was en vogue. Not necessarily critics but see box office returns. Dalton was the lowest adjusted for inflation while Craig was the highest right with Connery.
