The gun is taken disassembled and cleaned, then painted with auto grade paint with a color to match the pattern selected. The pattern is cut to size of part and placed in a large stainless steel tank along with part. Then a chemical in water separates pattern from flim and adheres pattern to gun part.
Wilkinson Gunsmithing is a licensed gun dealer (FFL). So, most non pistols can legally be sent to us by a gun owner via UPS, Fed-X etc. from within the US. We will return the gun via UPS or Fed-X when the work is completed. Please contact us for options for shipping pistols.
Just wipe outside of gun with clean water and continue using your normal cleaning solvents and oils on interior of gun. Use no paint thinners or strippers.
According to your location and time of year, it usually takes two weeks or less for complete turn around.
You must send barrel to us for measurements of barrel to see if it is of proper diameter and thickness for installation.
Aug 25, 2009 · The Wilkinson barrel I owned shot everything well. Unlike my previous combo, my current combo was a disaster, patterning-wise. I sent the barrels to Kerry Allor, who measured them, called me to tell me why they were not patterning well, and then fixed them.
Jan 21, 2015 · Rec'd my Tom Wilkinson worked bbls and took them out this weekend. Very nice patterns on the pattern board and on targets. Beautiful work , reasonable price and not shabby on the turn-around.
Aug 29, 2014 · I've known Tom Wilkinson's name during my trapshooting years but never really paid much attention to choke tubes and/or back-boring. I've heard you really can't tell the barrels have been modified for choke tubes when he's done with it.
