In the eastern part of Piazza Castello, we can find Teatro Regio, inaugurated in 1740. The theater was destroyed by fire in February 1936, and rebuilt in modern forms after the Second World War. In the southeastern corner of the square, there is Galleria Subalpina, built between 1873 and 1874 on a project by the architect Pietro Carrera.
