Here at Creative Nonfiction, we are always reading, searching for excellent new work to showcase in our various publications. At any given time, we usually have several submission portals open (see above calls for submissions), many of which require writers to pay a reading fee to submit their work.

Please indicate in your cover letter which genre (flash fiction, short story, or long story) you are submitting in. Do not mix genres in the same submission.
Creative Nonfiction magazine defines the genre simply, succinctly, and accurately as “true stories well told.”. And that, in essence, is what creative nonfiction is all about. In some ways, creative nonfiction is like jazz—it’s a rich mix of flavors, ideas, and techniques, some newly invented and others as old as writing itself.
