The class Tubulinea, as of 2022, is classified into three major groups: Corycida, Echinamoebida and Elardia. The most taxonomically abundant group is Elardia, which contains the testate amoebae of Arcellinida and the naked amoebae of orders Leptomyxida and Euamoebida. Corycidia Kang et al. 2017. Family Microcoryciidae de Saedeleer 1934
The phylogenetic placement of Trichosphaerium has been controversial, but most recent studies place it within the class Tubulinea of the phylum Amoebozoa. [1] [5] In particular, since 2017, phylogenomic analyses of Amoebozoa recover a clade known as Corycidia , at the base of Tubulinea, containing both Trichosphaerium and amoebae of the family ...
We recovered a well-resolved and supported tree of Amoebozoa, revealing novel deep level relationships and resolving placement of enigmatic lineages congruent with morphological data. In our analysis the deepest branching group is Tubulinea. A recent proposed major clade Tevosa, uniting Evosea and Tubulinea, is not supported.

The Tubulinea are a major grouping of Amoebozoa, including most of the more familiar amoebae genera like Amoeba, Arcella, Difflugia and Hartmannella. Characteristics During locomotion most Tubulinea have a roughly cylindrical form or produce numerous cylindrical pseudopods.
Aug 1, 2017 · Molecular phylogenetic evidence indicates that Amoebozoans are monophyletic, with most, but not all, lobose amoebae falling into one of two subclades: Tubulinea (which includes the lobose testate amoebae or Arcellinida) and Discosea. Difflugia is the largest genus of Arcellinida, one of several groups of Tubulinea within the eukaryote supergroup Amoebozoa. [1] . Arcellinida species produce shells or tests from mineral particles or biogeonic elements (e.g. diatom frustules) and are thus commonly referred to as testate amoebae or shelled amoebae.
