    • Draw the Girl’s Head. Before starting the head make a straight vertical line through the middle of your page. This center line will act as a guide to help you see that the drawing is not skewed or tilted towards one side and that both it’s halves are relatively even in width.
    • Draw the Neck & Shoulders. Going down from the head add the neck followed by the shoulder muscles and shoulders (as shown in the example). The lines that define the neck can be fairly straight followed by the slightly curved shoulder muscles and rounded shoulders.
    • Draw the Ears. Position the ears with their upper ends slightly below the vertical halfway point of the head (1/2) and their bottoms one quarter of the way up from the chin (1/4).
    • Draw the Eyes & Eyebrows. Kid’s generally have eyes lower down on the head then adults. For this particular drawing you will want to place them below the horizontal halfway point.

    • Sketching the Basic Shapes. The first step in drawing a girl is to sketch the basic shapes that will serve as a guide for the rest of the drawing.
    • Adding Details to the Face. Now that you have the basic shapes in place, it's time to add details to the face. Start by drawing two almond-shaped eyes on the horizontal line you drew earlier.
    • Outlining the Body. After sketching the face, it's time to outline the body. Using the rectangle as a guide, draw the shoulders and arms extending from each side.
    • Adding Clothing and Details. Now that the basic figure is complete, it's time to add clothing and details to your girl. You can choose any outfit you like, but make sure to consider the pose and position of the body.
    • Sketching the Girl’s Face. We can begin by taking our pencils and drawing a circle. That circle can then be divided into two by a horizontal line that will establish the eye level.
    • Coloring in the Girl’s Face. Now we get to the fun part, where we can explore color values and how they enhance the facial features. Starting around the eyes let’s work with a soft color to set a tone, this could be pink or yellow, but it is up to you.
    • Contextualizing the Head with Surrounding Features. We want to also draw surrounding features such as neck and hairline to give the head more context.
    • Adding Penwork for More Contrast. We now want to work on some penwork to give the drawing a little more refined lines and detailing. Starting with the eyes, we want to use our ballpoint pens strategically as we add in-line work and some shading to emphasize the features.
