A new Umeå Arts Campus was inaugurated in spring 2012 by the scenic banks of the Ume River, closer to Umeå city centre. The new campus housed Umeå Institute of Design, Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå School of Architecture, Bildmuseet museum, and Humlab X. The creative incubator Sliperiet can also be found there.
